Went on a trip to sikkim and bhutan with a bunch of friends i spend two of the best years of my life. While sikkim was just okay, i really loved bhutan for all its calmness, peace, beauty, friendliness and honesty.
Within bhutan, paro was the standout city for me, much more honest and peaceful. This pic is from the tsechu (festival) which keeps happening all over in bhutan from time to time. True to their customs, rich in color and very vibrant. They ooze out their connect with their heritage which i really loved.

the amazing amazing golden temple.. took a trip down the lanes of amritsar with aashish arora, a dear friend...
the place was hot.. well it was march so did not expect anything else.. and it was crowded.. to be fair it was saturday, so expected again :)
after amritsar, we headed to wagah, and one could just feel the energy accentuated because of the india-pakistan semifinal 2 days later.. man it was madness...

a flash trip to banaras was one of the best times i had after a year of life in exile.. ghats of banaras are an amazing site during the "deep-deepaali" festival which is the biggest festival celebrated in banaras.
While on one hand all the ghats were beautifully lit and the place was abuzz, there were a lot of people living on the ghats, sleeping on the cold floors with no covers whatsoever. A shot of the same

devotee offering prayers at the tomb of salim chisti.. descendant of the famous khwaja moinuddin chisti of ajmer..
legend goes that for a son, emperor akbar offered prayers to salim chisti.. after a lot of visits, all of them bare feet from agra to fatehpur sikri, 6 month old son of salim chisti miraculously spoke out and asked his father to grant akbar a son. It was then jahngir or shiakhu baba was born..

the place also bears a tunnel where anarkali was supposedly cemented in the walls. however, as we were told, they were sent to lahore, where the tunnel ends, and jahangir and anarkali lived there.. and that lahore has monuments of these people as well
interestingly so, also heard that anarkali was actually noorjahan.. she was made to marry a noble, who was then killed on some premise and then jahangir again married her as noorjahan (so it doesnt look like hes marrying a low blood courts servant)
how crooked and bent were our history lessons.. and bollywood :)

taj mahal in all its beauty. it really is a wonder and one cannot help but leave gasping for breathe looking at this marvel. the shear size leave alone the worksmanship leaves you spell-bound.. i had a hard time capturing the monument in a single frame.

of my short 2 day visit to agra, i made sure i visited Taj multiple times. no questions asked, it was the best when the first ray of sunlight shined on its dome, first thing in the morning. its like a white pearl shining, just bigger, better and more white :)

longing to go again.. soon..

Any travel enthusiast would have heard the name - pangong tso - in ladakh..
A really majestic lake.. huge in size, this is one of the highest lakes in india.. at once you can actually see 7-8 different colors in the same lake..
the lake does not have any vegetation and is a must do (though a complete 1 day trip) if you are visiting ladakh
